Alex is a professional ocean and wildlife photographer based in Western Australia. He completed a degree in Marine Biology which laid a foundation for his understanding of the ocean and the environment. A number of Alex’s images have been successful in photography competitions, including Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year, Sony World Photo Awards and Australian Photography Awards. The majority of Alex’s underwater imagery is captured whilst freediving, a technique that he is continually developing and learning. Alex is on a mission to showcase the beauty of the natural world.
I chose Nikon as my first when I first moved to a professional set up. The D810 image quality for underwater is astonishing. It has been my most reliable and favourite set up for underwater imagery for five years now. I’m looking forward to progressing to the Z7II for my primary underwater camera.
The D500 has also been a big favourite of mine for its cropped sensor and its lightning fast focusing capability.
