New

Make it auto-easy
with Auto Capture.

Whether you’re using the Nikon Z 9 for wildlife, sports photography or videography, the new Auto Capture function makes capturing easier than ever - especially for users who handle multiple devices.

The new Auto Capture allows users to automatically capture subjects under predefined shooting conditions with the Z 9. This new feature opens up a world of possibilities by removing the need for photographers and videographers to be stationed near the camera to make decisions. This is particularly useful for photographers when the camera is positioned in hard-to-reach places.

How does Auto Capture work?

Auto Capture is made possible by defining the capture settings for motion, distance and subject detection for capturing stills and videos remotely. Once the previously set conditions are met, Auto Capture releases the shutter and captures the right subject at the right distance and direction. Allowing you to define the exact moment when the camera should start capturing beyond time alone.

New

Soar Closer to Subjects in Flight with Quicker Birds and Airplanes Detection.

Whether they're in flight or perched amongst the tree-tops, the latest update 4.10 takes you closer to your subjects with quicker detection and clarity, unlocking a whole new range of possibilities for avian and aviation photography.

Track your subjects quicker, even as they soar against the background of rocky outcrops or dense forests and capture fleeting once-in-a-lifetime moments with a smoother shooting experience.

"Comparing between firmware versions 4.10 and 4.00, subject detection has significantly improved – birds can be detected earlier, even if they are at a further distance. The camera is a lot more confident in finding the eyes of a bird and gets less distracted by busy backgrounds or backlit situations. I was surprised at how well Auto-area AF performed, especially when focusing on birds in flight. For smaller and more agile species such as swallows or swifts, subject detection is now more robust, no matter what the bird looks like. Overall, it’s a really big improvement for us, bird photographers!”
